Mike is qualified in Geology and Geochemistry (UCT) and in Mining Engineering (RSM) and holds a Business Management Diploma (UNISA). His professional career starting with Anglo American in Zambia in 1957, has been in mineral exploration and mining.
He was a member of the teams which discovered Otjihase copper mine, Shangani nickel mine, Makonjwaan open pit gold mine, Sofala open pit gold mine, the Marsfontein diamond mine and the Klipspringer diamond mine.
He was also a member of the teams which developed the PPRust open pit platinum mine and the reopening of the Messina (now Limpopo) platinum mine.
He was also instrumental in the development of the Phosiri platinum project as well as the Aurora, Grassvalley and Millenium Platinum Projects.

Rob holds an MSc in Geology from the Ludwigs-Maximilians University in Munich and a (gold focussed) PhD in Geology from the University of the Witwatersrand.
He has worked on Greenstone hosted Gold in South Africa, Birimian hosted Gold in West Africa and IOCG (Olympic Dam) style mineralisation in South Africa and Zambia.
In the Bushveld Complex in South Africa he has worked on Merensky Reef and UG2 Reef hosted Platinum Group Metal Projects as well as Platreef style diseminated PGM, Nickel and Copper deposits.
In diamonds he has experience in the search and development of both Kimberlite hosted and alluvial diamond deposits in several southern African countries.
